! Thanks to Suzy Chaffee, Olympic Skier, activist for Snow Ceremonies by Native Americans, and Ski Programs for Native Youth, President of the Native American Olympic Team Foundation (NAOTF.org) for letting me know about this, and to Jamie Schectman, Mount Ashland Ski Area, who introduced us after inviting me to organize a similar ceremony on Mount Ashland, a “First Snows” Mountain Blessing, 11/23/14. Afterwards, Jamie was happy to report that there was “considerably more snow than forecasted.”

  • Suzy ChaffeeHail Robert “Bobcat” Brothers for giving gratitude to Southern Ute Elder Eddie Box Jr. for leading the 2012 Vail Snowdance Miracle, restoring joy to millions of Colorado skiers, residents and Nature. A few weeks later on January 28, in appreciation to our compassionate Mother Earth, Ute Mt Elder-snowboarder Reggie Lopez led a Gratitude Snowdance in Telluride to the delight of Tel-Ski’s owner Chuck Horning. The Rocky Mts were blessed with more snow and Telluride the most … 6 ft… thanks to having a Ute Snowsports Program. Giving Gratitude and hosting on-going programs inspire amazing Snowblessings!”
