Herp paradise preserved in Guatemala

Photo: A special coalition of 15 conservation groups has managed to save 6,000 acres of primary rainforest in Guatemala. Home to many seriously endangered herps including the newly discovered Merendon palm pit viper this a fantastic step in preserving the so often threatened but over looked group of animals. The reserve however is not beneficial purely to Reptiles and Amphibians but also contains unique habitat for many rare bird species as well as forming part of the ‘Jaguar Corridor Project’ protecting these elusive felines from Mexico to Argentina.
